New Election Requirements

Photo ID

Beginning in 2012 you must present a photo ID in order to receive a ballot every time you vote. Wisconsin does not issue a separate "Voter ID" card. Instead you must use one of the photo IDs listed below (partial list). Your photo ID does not need to show a current address.

Acceptable Forms of Photo ID

Wisconsin Drivers License
Wisconsin DOT-issued Photo ID Card
U.S. Passport
Military ID Card

You can help prevent long lines at the polls by having your photo identification in your hand and ready to present to the poll workers!

Signing Poll Books

Voters are required to sign the poll books next to their pre-printed name to obtain a ballot. This requirement has been instituted statewide in an effort to prevent voter fraud. Please note that there have been no cases of voter fraud in the Village of Crivitz.

Residency Qualification Requirements
In the past a voter must have resided in the municipality for at least 10 consecutive days prior to an election in order to be qualified to vote. This requirement has increased to 28 consecutive days prior to an election.

Absentee Voting
In the past a voter could cast an absentee ballot in the clerk's office any time up to the opening of the polls on election day. Absentee voting in the clerk's office now ends at the close of business on the Friday before the election.

Did you know.........

The State of Wisconsin now has voter information online at https://vpa.wi.gov.  At this site you can check on the status of your voter registration, view sample ballots for upcoming elections, and see a list of all elected officials in your district.  This is a great feature that has resulted from the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) database.  Please take a moment to visit this site.

Voter Registration

If you have not yet registered to vote you may do so either in the clerk’s office during normal business hours or at the polls on any election day.  If you are unsure of your registration status, please contact the office and we will verify this for you, or visit the website noted above .  Voter registration requires completion of a form and presentation of identification and proof of residency.  This can be easily achieved with a WI Drivers license or WI Photo ID card.  However, if you are not licensed to drive in Wisconsin and do not have the state photo ID card there are other forms of identification that can be presented.  Please contact the clerks office if you should have questions.
